“ENSHRINE”
-to “cherish as sacred.”
The intention of these pieces are part experiment and part self- reflection. Enshrine is inspired by my love for abstract art, black and white photography, sacred geometry, and the spiritual found in nature.
What we see often perceive changes meaning when we see the patterns it can create. The act of taking a photo “enshrines” the moment to an extent and yet the tree’s themselves are imprints of time and space through nature. I have always felt the most at peace when I am surrounded by nature and yet a mysterious feeling lingers. “Perhaps the trees show the shape of the wind.”
These photographs were taken between 5,000 and 10,000 ft elevation in the “The Valley of Enchantment” and “Heart Rock Trail” in the San Bernadino Mountains as well as the “Methuselah Gove” in Death Valley. What is displayed are patterns of textures found on trees; limbs, branches, bark, etc. and reflected to create a Rorschach effect. Many of these trees are over 1,000 years old.
The pieces displayed are a chosen few from a collection of over 100 originals. The music accompanying this gallery are original songs inspired from my love of ambient music, natural soundscapes, and nature itself.
My hope with this exhibition is that you may find the mystery in the mundane, the spiritual in the ordinary, the sacred in the moment...
“The world that appears to your eye, is the world that appears to your I.”
